SERVE ON A COMMITTEE
HOPES has volunteer opportunities to serve on committees that support its board of directors and HOPES’ mission. Committees typically meet every other month to carry out various tasks that range from organizing fundraising events to reviewing and revising policy. There are currently five committees with openings for volunteer committee members:
Mission and Governance Committee: Recruits and orients new board members, develops a slate for the election of board officers, conducts board evaluations and develops programs for board members as needed.
Business Administration Committee: Sometimes referred to as the finance committee, it reviews contracts, leases and other agreements to ensure compliance with regulations and property fiscal and property management. Reviews budget and recommends the budget to the board for approval, reviews monthly financial reports, meets with auditors and develops an action plan to address any issues raised.
Development Committee: Develops, implements and evaluates a communication plan, develops plans with fundraising goals and activities, recruits board members to participate in fundraising and other activities organized by the committee.
Ministry Committee: Advises on program development and evaluation, assesses program needs, establishes annual goals and objective of the program.
Golf Outing Committee: This committee helps organize the annual golf outing that takes place in September. This includes volunteering on the day of the event and identifying and communicating with sponsors who support the event.
